Mayo
Creek Gardens
is a three-season display garden and nursery near Lake
Cowichan on Vancouver Island, BC.
This
truly unique five-acre garden is a skillful blend of plants
native to the Cowichan Valley and compatible horticultural
favourites, all
co-existing in seemingly natural combinations
- a showcase of gardening with nature and wildlife.
More
a wild plant sanctuary than a “traditional”
manicured garden, Mayo Creek Gardens epitomizes the philosophy
that a garden should be in harmony with its natural surroundings.
The
garden contains a rich variety of conditions, which allows
the exploration of diverse garden themes. Japanese-style
bridges and gates, as well as trellises and pergolas offer
important focal points, while strategically placed benches
invite you to rest and enjoy the scenery. |
|
| |
Visitors
are invited to tour Mayo Creek Gardens to see how native
and ornamental plants can be blended in harmonious ways.
The garden is also the venue for several events, workshops
and group tours (provided by special arrangement) during
the summer months. See our “Events and Workshops”
pages.
Garden
Events include: Strawberry Tea, Edwardian Afternoon Tea,
Healing Arts in the Garden, Art and Motion in the Garden,
"Ethnic Drums", and Mushroom Color workshops.
"Afternoon Tea" and light snacks served in the
garden on sunny summer Sundays.
